Moat Privacy Policy

Moat is a game that teaches value investing. Everything you do in it stays on your phone. There is no account, and we never receive your calls, values or notes.

Who we are

Moat is operated by Joel Holomek, a sole trader based in Australia (“we”, “us”, “our”).

The short version

What stays on your device

• Your game. The companies you judge, your values, checklist answers, notes, reasons for owning, trades and journal.
• Your progress. Lessons, ranks, badges and streaks.
• Coach questions. The coach uses Apple’s on-device model. Your questions and its answers are processed on your iPhone and are not sent to us or to any other service.
• Settings. Theme, hurdle rate, checklist choice and other preferences.
• Reminders. Notifications are scheduled on your phone, only if you allow them.

Because there is no account, none of this is linked to an identity we hold.

What leaves your device

• Annual reports you open. When you tap to read a company’s 10-K, your device loads it from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s website (sec.gov). The SEC receives that request and your IP address, as with any web page, under its own policy.
• Purchases. Moat Pro is sold through the App Store and handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details. Apple tells the app only whether Pro is active.

What we do not do

• We do not collect, sell or share personal data. We do not hold any.
• We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools in the app.
• We do not upload your game, your notes or your coach questions.

Not financial advice

Moat is an educational game using historical data. Nothing in it is a recommendation to buy or sell any security.

If you contact us

If you email us or use the contact form on this website, we receive what you send, your email address and your message, so that we can reply. It is used only to answer you, is never sold or shared with advertisers, and is deleted once the matter is resolved. This is separate from the app, which still collects nothing.

Deleting your data

There is no account to delete. Deleting the app removes your game, progress and settings from your device. Nothing is kept by us.

Children

Moat does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

We may update this policy. Significant changes will be announced in the app, and the date above will change.
